Statement of the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs regarding the ILO’s Decision to Close its Complaint Against the State of Qatar

The Government of the State of Qatar welcomes the announcement by the International Labour Organisation that it will close its complaint against Qatar, as well as the praise and compliment it gave for the efforts by the State of Qatar to promote migrant workers’ rights.

The State of Qatar developed a comprehensive programme of technical cooperation with the International Labour Organisation to implement legislation, programmes, and activities related to workers’ rights in the country.

Speaking about the announcement, His Excellency Dr Issa Bun Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi, Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs said: “The State of Qatar have always been and will remain keen on ensuring a productive, collaborative environment that is beneficial for all parties,

fostering legal guarantees based on international labour standards and relevant work and human rights agreements.”

In this regard, the State of Qatar pursues setting an example in treating migrant workers on legal and ethical basis through its constant keenness on improving the lives of all migrant workers.

The State of Qatar welcomes dialogue and cooperation with all parties and entities contributing towards providing support to those workers and ensuring their rights and interests, especially that the State of Qatar is committed to the highest standards of productivity and providing protection in line with the international labour standards.
